You don't have to choose between Uber, DoorDash or Amazon Flex and Altrip. With Altrip you get one fixed route for the whole school year and steady weekly pay. Drive it in the morning and afternoon, and the rest of the day stays yours.
With the apps, every day starts from zero. With Altrip, your route is already set.
You go online and wait to see what comes in
Some days there are plenty of requests, some days there aren't. Some weeks you earn a lot, others very little. And to make it work, you have to stay online for hours.

One route, assigned to you for the whole school year
Once your documentation is done, you sit down with your manager and choose together the route that best fits where you live. That route is yours for the school year: you know where you're driving every day, and what to expect each week.

We guide you through the official process, step by step.
You talk about where you live and your availability.
The one that fits your location best. One route, or more if you want.
Same route every day. No guessing, no waiting.
Same student, same stops, same times, Monday to Friday, all school year.
You're paid by the miles you drive. Same route means the same miles, so your weekly income stays steady. Paid every Friday.
No need to stay online all day. Drive your route and the rest of the day is yours. You decide if you want one route or more.
School holidays have no routes and aren't paid. Additional routes depend on availability in your zone.
Your route takes the edges of the day. The middle is still yours.
School routes follow the school bell. Between the morning and afternoon trips, and after your last drop-off, you can keep driving for your apps, run errands or work another job.
Pick up your student at home and drop them off at school.
Go online on your apps, take deliveries or handle your own things.
Pick your student up at school and take them back home.
Dinner rush, evening rides, family time. Your call.
Approximate windows. Each route has its own exact times, depending on the school (high schools often start earlier). You'll know your schedule before you accept a route.
It's not about which pays more. They work differently.
Comparing them hour by hour doesn't tell the full story. Here's how each one actually works, so you can see why they fit together.
Paid per ride or per delivery
- ✓Go online whenever you want, as many hours as you want
- ✓Great for filling open hours and earning extra
- ~Income depends on demand, time of day and surge pricing
- ~Time waiting for the next ride or order, and empty miles between trips
- ~Different passengers or orders every time
Paid per completed school trip
- ✓A fixed route: same student, same stops, same times
- ✓You know where you're going and when, before the week starts
- ✓No waiting for demand. The route runs every school day, Monday to Friday
- ✓Paid by the miles you drive, weekly every Friday
- ✓A real team and Document Preparers behind you
Routes depend on availability and approval. Fuel and vehicle costs are on the driver, just like with the apps.
Each one is strong at something different.
That's exactly why they combine so well. Altrip covers what the apps can't promise, and the apps give you the flexibility a route doesn't.
A steady base, plus flexible extra.
Fixed school routes every school day. You start the week knowing where you'll drive.
Fill the hours between routes and the evenings, whenever it suits you.
Less dependence on whether demand shows up, without giving up your flexibility.
What app drivers ask us.
Can I keep driving for Uber, DoorDash or Amazon?
Yes. Altrip doesn't ask you to leave other platforms. As an independent contractor, you can keep working with your apps or another job. The only thing we ask is that you're on time for your morning and afternoon trips, every school day.
Can I use the same car?
Yes, as long as it meets our requirements: a reliable 4-door vehicle, 10 years old or newer, in good condition, with current registration and insurance.
What are the route hours?
Generally between 6:30 and 9:30 AM, and between 12:30 and 4:30 PM, depending on the school. Each route has its own exact times, and you'll know them before you accept.
Can I pick which days I drive?
No. The route runs the whole school week, Monday to Friday. That consistency is what makes it predictable for you, and for the family that counts on you.
What about school holidays and summer?
No routes run on school holidays, so those days aren't paid. That's where your apps come in. During summer, available summer routes are reviewed based on what the district needs.
How is pay calculated at Altrip?
You're paid by the miles of each completed school trip, and it's paid weekly every Friday. You can see the full structure and a calculator on our Earnings page.
